Hawaii

Hawaii

Situated off the coast of mainland USA, Hawaii consists of eight islands, six of which welcome visitors. Blessed with some of the world’s most stunning coastlines, it is easy to see why Hawaii is such a popular destination with surfers and sun seekers from the US and beyond. However, Hawaii is more than a beach destination. Home to mountains, volcanoes and pristine rainforests, Hawaii’s diverse landscape beckons to be explored.

Best Time to Visit Hawaii

With long sunny days and mild temperatures throughout the year, Hawaii is a great destination whatever the season. Most people visit Hawaii between mid-December and mid-April to escape the chilly winter and spring months elsewhere. However, as this season is the most popular to visit Hawaii, bargain flights and cheap hotels are few and far between. Indeed room rates can be up to 15% higher than what they are in other seasons. Room rates are especially high during the Christmas week and spring break.

Flight Information

Hawaii’s major airport is Honolulu International Airport (HNL) which is situated on the island of Oahu not too far away from the Honolulu, the state’s capital.  There are a number of carriers which operate flights from mainland US to Hawaii including: United, Delta and Hawaiian.

Hawaiian offer direct flights from New York to Honolulu and the journey takes just over 11 hours. However, it is often easier and cheaper to opt for an indirect flight. An indirect flight from New York to Honolulu will, on average, take around 13 hours and 30 minutes. Common stopping points include San Francisco and Dallas.

Accommodation

One of the great things about Hawaii is that there is an accommodation for everyone. While luxury beachfront hotels with every creature comfort will appeal to some travelers, others may prefer an intimate bed-and-breakfast encompassed by rainforest.

House rentals are another popular option for those going on vacation with their family or a large group. This is because they offer more space than a traditional hotel room and plenty of shared space.

If you are looking to save some money on your accommodation, consider visiting Hawaii in the spring and autumn as this is when hotel rates are at their lowest.
