With plenty of great accommodation options to choose from, finding somewhere to stay when on vacation in Mexico is rarely difficult. However, if you are planning on visiting one of Mexico’s popular coastal resorts during the Christmas (this is Mexico’s peak season) or Easter (this coincides with spring break), you should definitely book your accommodation far in advance. Not only will this secure you a good rate, but booking in advance will give you access to a greater range of accommodation options.
In major cities and resorts, you will often find that the budget accommodations are concentrated one area. The more luxurious and expensive accommodation options tend to be situated on the fringes of town and are only accessible by car or taxi.
If you are staying in a small town, head to the main plaza (also called the zócalo). Here you will find a fantastic assortment of cheap accommodation to choose from. In addition, you can often find budget accommodation near to bus stations and train stations.
One of the great things about Mexico is that there is an amazing range of accommodation available, allowing you to find a place to stay which matches both your taste and budget. Travelers heading to large resorts such as Cancun will find plenty of all-inclusive resorts. One of the major attractions of all-inclusive resorts is that they include the costs of all your onsite food and drinks in the price of the holiday. This makes it easier for you to budget for your Mexican holiday!
However, not everyone wants to stay in an all-inclusive resort. There are plenty of hotels to choose from, ranging from small family run businesses through to luxury international chains. In addition, bed and breakfasts are becoming a popular alternative to hotels in Mexico. These can be found in both colonial towns and cities and can offer a more authentic atmosphere.
