As Mexico is a large country flight times vary considerably. On average a flight from New York to Cancun will take just over 4 hours and a flight to Mexico City from New York will take 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Flights to Mexico are predominantly served by Aeromexico. However, some of Mexico’s domestic airlines like Volaris and VivaAerobus offer flights to Mexico from US destinations.

As mentioned in the introduction, Mexico is a fantastic destination for a relaxing beach holiday. There are plenty of beautiful beaches to be found on both of Mexico’s coasts. The Baja California Peninsula is especially popular with holidaymakers as it is home to one of Mexico’s best beach resorts: Cabo San Lucas. There are plenty of great beach destinations on the eastern side of Mexico too, such as Playa del Carmen and Cancun.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and Mexico’s second most-visited historic attraction, Chichén Itzá Is not to be missed. Chichén Itzá was a pre-Columbian city in Tinum. The Kukulkan Pyramid is the most-famous building at the site. Indeed, the Kukulkan Pyramid, called ‘El Castillo’ is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The pyramid stands exactly 24 meters tall and dates back as early as 300 AD. The site has a number of other interesting buildings to visit including the Great Ball Court and El Caracol, a Maya observatory.

There a number of world-class museums and galleries to visit while on holiday in Mexico. Two of the most famous are the National Museum of Anthropology and the Palacio de Bellas Artes, both of which are situated in Mexico City. The National Museum of Anthropology spans across almost 20 acres and is home to an impressive collection of artefacts from Mexico’s pre-Columbian past. One of the museum’s most important relics is the Stone of the Sun.

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is housed in a beautiful white-marble palace and features a capacious arts center as well as a concert hall. The museum is famous for its stunning murals which cover the top and ground floors of the building.
